Competitive Events

Cliffside Bird Dogs proudly posts an impressive winning record.
Let us help you develop your champion.

Every spring, fall, and late winter Cliffside Bird Dogs hits the road with a string of dogs and horses. The season starts in late winter around mid January and runs through mid May. The season may contain both field trials as well as hunt tests, depending on the dogs in-kennel at the time.

Then the competition dogs go home for the summer.

The fall season starts the first weekend in September and runs through Thanksgiving.

Again, the dogs go home for early winter.

There are more events throughout the summer and winter if you’re willing to travel for them, but our dogs work hard and we feel the time off is important. During the off season, we are still very busy with dogs! We turn our attention to the dogs that come in for a variety of training needs, whether that be as a hunting companion or for evaluation as a competitive prospect.

Think you have a competitive prospect? Want to Find Out?

The typical program for a good puppy prospect would be:

Come in for in-kennel training at approximately 6 months of age.

This first stay should be for 2 to 3 months. During this time we will enter the puppy in the trials and get it exposed to the road and different grounds. The pup should go home then and just be a pet. We gather the string back together mid Feb & mid August.

The dogs that are campaigned will follow this schedule for 3 or more years. We take the dogs to find birds in many different places around the country and they look forward to it.

The rates for campaigning your dog are as follows:

In-Kennel Training
The fee is $18.00 per day per dog, 30 day minimum.
